I’ve found a ton of unique yet essential baby gear items you need to get to prepare for summer. I absolutely love summer and doing things outside, but living in Texas…it gets HOT here (at least compared to Colorado).
Thankfully, there’s a ton of baby beach gear, pool gear, and products to make mom life that much easier for me and my 3 kiddos!
I’m planning on getting some of these summer baby items for my almost 1 year old, especially to be at the pool (which is literally across the street).
I put together a list of all the essential baby items and a few momma items to survive the heat this summer. There’s no rhyme or reason to the order, sorry just picked some of my absolute favorites that I thought were unique!

10 Things You Need for Baby Before Summer
1. Stroller Fan for Stroller
First off, it’s not a summer post without recommending this powerful stroller fan for the stroller. You can clip it on anywhere and it will provide great airflow in stuff, hot weather!
2. Stroller hooks
I don’t know about you, but we LOAD up the stroller during the summer, especially when going to the beach. Between the diaper bag, coolers, pool toys, and towels, we need all the space we can get. That’s why I love these stroller hooks for extra bag hanging space!
3. Light-weight, mesh baby carrier
If you’re more into babywearing rather than strolling, even in the hotter months, I’ve found that this one and this one are super popular ring slings (the second one is waterproof for the pool/beach). Several moms have bought those specific ring slings on my site.
You’ll love them, especially when traveling with your baby or doing any sight-seeing this summer!
4. A new ring for mom
This is a different type of recommendation. Imagine getting ready for a day on the lake. The sun beating down. An ice cold lemonade in your hand. And… your fingers… swollen because you’re slightly dehydrated, so you take your wedding band off and tuck it safely (you hope!) into your wallet.

6. Barefoot Pool Side Baby Shoes
Here’s a smart mom idea if I ever saw one. Wish I had thought of this!
If you have a toddling little one that you’re bringing to the pool to accompany your older crazies, then these barefoot baby shoes are well worth the investment. Protect your little ones’ feet at the pool or beach so they don’t get burned.
They will thank you for them! Plus, they are super cute!!!
7. Reusable Swim Diaper
If you’re going to be at the pool or beach a lot this summer, save time and waste less with this reusable swim diaper! We love ours because we save money on those expensive swim diapers (plus they are cute!)
8. Comfortable Sleeping Nursing Bra
In the hot summer months, you might be tempted to sleep with less layers. But unfortunately, you still have to wear a bra when nursing!
That’s why I thought this soft comfortable nursing bra would be the perfect item to add to your cart this summer. I’ve had many moms say they loved that this bra because it’s also easy to nurse or pump in.

9. Pop-up Shaded Baby Beach Tent
Last year we spent all day on the beach for July 4th. I wish I had heard of this baby beach gear LAST YEAR because the umbrella we used for shade kept trying to fly away. And pretty much all day I was stressed about Little Three getting too hot! Don’t be like me. Lol.
This is a this is the best baby beach tent for a fun day at the beach with your baby! Baby can play in the water, stay cool and out of the sun with this lightweight, easy to bring along pop-up beach shade with UV protection! Must-have for a little more relaxation for mom and dad at the beach!
10. Kiddie pool with seat and umbrella for the backyard
This item is a little bit more expensive than the normal items I recommend, but if you’ve got a backyard, I think a pool similar to this is necessary for summer! Throw it on your back patio and let the kids play for hours!
I love that the kids are out of the sun but that there’s also a Kiddie pool in the water!
The last thing you need to do before taking your baby out in summer is…
Have a good attitude and be flexible! You can have all the best baby gear in the world (and they certainly make things better), but without a sense of adventure, a little risk-taking, a lot of patience, and the ability to be flexible… you will have a difficult time this summer.
