Are You Too Busy? Here’s the Difference Between Busy…

  • March 26, 2026March 26, 2026
  • by Jessica Whitney

There is no question that in American culture, it is a status to say, “I am busy.”

When people ask, “How are you?” — that’s one of the most common responses you hear. At work, at restaurants, in the school pickup line. And it’s often said with a tone of pride and resignation at the same time, a smile on the face, as if busyness is a badge of honor.

I want to combat that.

Being too busy — too busy for this conversation, too busy to rest, too busy to pause — is not something I want to wear proudly. When we say it that way, it implies overcommitment. And that’s not something to aspire to.

But here’s what I also want to say: sometimes life is just full. And knowing the difference between an overscheduled life and a full season?

That’s where intentionality comes in. Let’s dive in!

Create Peace, Not Perfection: A Simple Evening Routine for…

As my kids have grown, I’ve learned the importance of integrating them into our family life all times of the day, but especially in the evening. Teaching them responsibility and giving them purpose has been essential, but I’ve also realized the need to avoid overwhelming them (and myself) with too many checklists.

One significant change to our routine has become a cornerstone in maintaining a calm household. I used to be unstructured, constantly playing catch-up, and overwhelmed by a messy house. Implementing this evening routine didn’t solve everything overnight, but it added structure without rigidity, helping me create a clean, decluttered home and the confidence to focus on what truly matters.

The beginning of fall always has me thinking about family routines. The beginning of a new school year. Kids’ activities. The Holidays. I love it all, but it also has me all “super-active-getting-organized” mode. I love finding new family routine examples to add to our days, weeks, months.

I have to make a confession… I’m a routine-junkie. I’m that mom that sticks to bedtime and naptime routines and loves eating dinner at the same time every night.

By putting systems in place, I ensure we prioritize what’s important to our family!

And I want to provide some easy family routine examples for you too! So, grab your coffee and let’s chat.

Yaaassss! I’m so excited for this printable. A simple planning tool for moms that actually works. THAT is the reason I created a free printable weekly planner to be used by busy moms to organize the chaos. If you don’t have the time to draw a pretty bullet journal every week or your to-do list gets lost in every single app, then this easy free printable is for you!

I encourage you to download this printable with caution! Only download it if you want to practice gratefulness, stay focused, and prioritize your list. Okay, that sounds a little extreme I must admit… but since there are blocks for you to write all those things down, then I thought I would say it… haha.

As a reminder this is a weekly planner.

If you’re looking for a daily planner, you might want to read how to make an effective to do list for moms because there’s a great printable over there too!
